Greece. Samos. The statue group by the sculptor Geneleos on display at the Archaeological Museum in Vathy or Samos town. Dating from 560 - 550 B.C, the steeped pedestal originally contained 6 statues of which four have survived. The statues are representing a father, mother and children are of a distinguished family of the time. Each of the figures has an inscription stating its name. The work displays interesting innovations that influenced the art of Ionia.
