Rhodes. Greece. View of one of the numerous delightful waterfalls in the valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes). Colourful Jersey tiger moths (they are called butterflies for publicly reasons) gather in their thousands in the valley from late June to September, attracted by the golden resin of the liquid amber trees in the valley. They cover the trunks of the trees and stream side rocks with a cloak of yellow and black wings and red underwings. The path through the valley is beautifully landscaped with stone stairways and rustic wooden bridges that crisscross over a flowing stream and numerous rock pools with small waterfalls. The valley is located 25KM from Rhodes town on the island of Rhodes which is the largest of the Dodecanese Island group and one of the most popular Greek Islands.
