Delos . Greece. The Granite Palaestra dating from the mid-2nd century BC which was used as a sports training club. It is a large four sided building with an open central courtyard with an underground cistern. It takes its name from the granite columns that once enclosed the courtyard. It was surrounded on three sides by rooms. Delos is the birthplace of the Greek God Apollo and his twin sister the Greek Goddess Artemis and one of most important ancient sites in the Mediterranean. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
