Delos. Greece. The Minoan fountain which was built in the mid-6th century BC and modified in the 2nd century BC. Originally covered by a roof, the stepped public fountain was hewn out of natural granite and still contains water year round. Located near the Greek island of Mykonos, the small sacred island of Delos is the birthplace of the Greek God Apollo and his twin sister the Greek Goddess Artemis. Delos is one of most important ancient sites in the Mediterranean and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
